I noticed an unwanted user was able to create an account and register to my Main Site Aug 7, 2026.

Subsite name acs-kernel.Main_Site
Theme Bootstrap 5
Visible Anyone
Join policy closed
the unwanted user: role member, member status approved.

I was looking for documentation about the meaning of open, needs approval and closed.

i thought closed would mean “close” to registering. Not being a member or being approved to the Main Site.

Is OpenACS working as design?

If not, before I remove this unwanted user, is there information anyone would need to check for possible of a security preach?

There is no critical or personal data on this server at this time.

I will eventually delete the user and block IP address.

from your forum post I took the liberty to create an issue on Github. There may be something to look into, but I cannot confirm if the behavior I have observed is expected or not at the moment.

Please feel free to add further information to the issue if you have any.
